Here is a fabulous French Carriage Clock.

You don’t see many of these in such a fantastic condition with the case. The high quality of the painting on the panels, none are damaged. The unusual hexagonal shape. I have never seen this shape before in a carriage clock. Everything about it is top of the range. Is it worth all that money? Oh certainly and a lot more.

Would that of been mercury gilded?

I really like the warm glow of the gold on this case.

The winding and squares have got a lovely polish on them.

The only thing for me that lets it down is after all the polishing they still left the screw heads chewed.

Electro plating came in in the early 1900’s. The only way of telling would be to look at the parts that haven’t been plated. I agree the screws are untidy and should be cleaned up and polished.

is the minute hand a replacement ? as it sticks out past the outer dial track. if it is right it still ruins the look for me but i would still have it.
