2836-2: Click Won't Stay Engaged Against the Spring

It seems as if the click moves up in its pivot and then skips over the spring when the winding stem is turned.

I used Mark's video, "How to Service an Automatic Watch" where this was done with a 2824 movement.

The 2836-2 is disassembled and re-assembled the same way with the same parts.

What am I doing wrong?

(The spring isn't shown in the pic because it popped out while I was moving the click around).

is the hole in the plate nice and round? when you put the crown wheel back, does the click stay into place?

I lost the spring but had a spare.

 I put the click and spare in a cleaning solution and cleaned the area on the main plate with Rodico.

I put the click and spring back in and it works fine now.
