Winding Stem Problem

I have a stem that is very loose where it connects in the crown.  Any advice is welcomed.

It appears to be a screw down crown. If it is there is a lot going on inside the crown to allow it to function, and with a bit of wear, it may start to slacking off a bit. Here's a schematic that illustrates the complexity involved.

If it's not a screw down, unscrew the stem, put some Loctite on it and tighten it up again.

I agree with Geo. Also there might be an o ring washer missing.

Ditto. I do prefer Loctite 222 since it allows for disassembly and is not precisely a glue but a thread locker.

It's definitely a screw-in.  

 

I'll be better off replacing both pieces or else I'll break it trying to separate them and have to order it anyway.
