Assembling own watch

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking of assembling my own watch for a while. After seeing the video by Mark I am considering a GMT watch. Seagull do two movements that look interesting. The 2533 and 2557. Does anyone know anything about either of these or could suggest an alternative. (Forget Sellitta and eta, both too expensive for this)

Seagull is the leading Chinese manufacturer, yet the same gotchas apply to them:

  • No warranty whatsoever
  • No spare parts availability, not even service sheets, zero customer service.
  • Production is graded, so when you buy cheap retail you get the worse ones, don't expect performances or durability.

Have a read: http://www.asian-watches.com/2016/04/a-warning-about-seagull-st-3600-vs-eta.html

But if your purchase is based on price they are pretty much the only choice.

BTW: we have a dedicated section where most members like to introduce themselves before asking questions.
