Hi all - I have a Fortis Fleiger on the bench and the crown, which looks to have been replaced once already, has worn out. I beleive these crowns are supposed to wobble some by design. Are there measurements I can take to find a replacement? It is also a screw down crown. 41dbaf084aed2011c9a059360eff4e17.jpg

Thanks much for the info thus far, I havent replaced a crown of this type before so the picture is getting a little clearer. It does seem like parts are missing. Are the tubes pressed in?

How does the tube in the watch look like? I wonder as i can't see any gasket in the crown. Internal or external thread on the tube in the watch.

Looks to be external thread on both diameters of the tube, with an internal gasket. The crown contains a face seal gasket. I've attached some more photos. Needs a good scrub.576b5626d058f1f0347024eb3888a0e8.jpge05faf6b85eeddb6dd6914222e482506.jpgb78eb05a09743a913e3c4aeed49df49e.jpg8dc4245daac665fd7701e9f4e0fcb0fb.jpg

Looks a bit like a Rolex crown. Could be easy to find or  could be tricky.

Or the best maybe would be to contact Fortis and see if the could help you out?

I sent an email to Fortis inquiring about the crown and tube. For the price, I'm inclined to try the parts PJA posted from the Bay. My only reservation is knowing wether or not the threads are correct.

Is this what you look for?  Sorry for linking to Ebay . But was difficult to show in other ways.
I think thats the correct set (internal thread for crown) and what I have is a replacement, perhaps a generic Rolex. I ordered some aftermarket parts for this movement. If they dont fit, will have to spring for the $70 factory parts. Thanks for keep an eye out, I'll follow up when parts arrive.

Hi, juat wanted to post an update that I got the aftermarket Rolex style crown in and it works well. I had to tap the case for the new tube and locktite it in place and make some adjustments to the stem and all is well. Thanks!

Most of the way through reassembly and I have mysteriously lost part number 161 the center tube...Are these easily sourced for a 2824? I found several on the Bay and one is titled 2800. Does that mean it fits all movements with a 2800 series prefix? I'm new to this taxonomy.

Best,

C

Not with you there? Where does this tube sit?

Now i found it :)  Why did you remove that? Or did it fall of? That normally sits on the mainplate. It need to have the right length .  Same as the cannon pinion or shorter.

Its like a guide tube for the main wheel and is usually lightly pressed into the center of the main plate. I did, however, manage to find it!9631463a3376a003c5171007329d4e23.jpg

I never remove that when i service a ETA movement . But have occasionally changed them when they have been damaged.  Looking good your watch  with the crown.

Thanks, it's a rugged one. The tube should have stayed in but I think my cleaner flung it out. I use an L&R mechanical.
