Opening an Alpine Watch

Hi

The groove for opening the watch is directly under the stem. I'm not sure why someone would have put the back on like that, but...

In any case, I can't put anything in there to pry off the back without engaging the stem in some way. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could open the watch?

razor blade to lift the back just enough to fit the case knife?

You might be able to put your thumb on the back of the case knife blade and push straight in to pop it open... sometimes that works.  Then you're not prying against the crown.

Maybe I'll use the blade of my bushman's knife and hit it with my ball peen hammer...or not ;-)
