I am new to this forum so forgive if I make errors. I have for many years repaired and serviced clocks and have now moved on to watches and I am bait confused about the lubrication of Eta Sliding & winding pinions on Eta watches. The Eta tech sheet shows D5 but I noticed that Mark (watch repair channel) uses grease. I presume it is Marks preference & I must admit is is mine too but I wondered if anyone has thoughts on this .

Welcome aboard, you should find this a friendly place and a great source of knowledge.

I too will be interested to hear Mark's view on your question.

A lot of service sheets recommend D5. I prefer the grease as it usually stays where you put it and you get a better silky smooth action.

I have experimented with several kinds of grease for the keyless work and 9501 came out on top for me but also silicon grease is also very good.
