Miyota 8215 mainspring left or right

Hi folks

I have a miyota 8215 in bits at the moment and i have a new mainspring to install. In my youthful exuberance i committed a schoolboy error and i forgot to note the way the mainspring winds in the barrel.

I have a PDF from one of you kind chaps that says it winds left hand, so does that mean that when i look into the barrel from the top the arbor will turn left, anticlockwise to wind the spring?

Stoo,

have a close look at the hook on the main spring arbor using your loupe. That should give you all the information you need to determine the orientation of the spring in the barrel.

Look at the ring around the spring? If it's a original spring? Color should be up.

Marc thanks!!! I think i see what you mean the key on the arbor is kinda "ski slope" shaped and will only engage with the spring in one rotational direction.
