I'm trying to find out what's wrong with a borea watch. It's got an eb 8810 movement, winds and sets ok but only ticks for a few seconds, except oddly, in the crown down position when it runs normally.

Any help or advice gratefully accepted.

If my memory serves me well the EB 80-- series are pin lever movements. It most probably needs a service but to be certain of the fault/s it will need to be stripped & inspected.

Thanks for that. Never taken a pin lever movement apart so probably best to try to find some old movements to practice on before attempting to repair/service this one.

If it's only running in one position, inspect the balance pivots and jewels carefully for damage or wear first. A broken pivot will normally only allow a watch to run "Face up or down" . Interesting, let us know how you get on
