Didn't think I could do this balance replacement, but here it is anyway, spot on and running strong, since I bought three Seiko autos for $30,  two had new crystals and all had new straps, (albeit relatively inexpensive straps) cheap is not a word in my vocabulary. Oh yeah, found balance on the bay, after the fact, for $15 w/free ship. Have not got to the other ones yet, point is never give up, if it becomes too much, walk away for a spell. It's like a game, sometimes you win, other times you lose and sometimes you get rained out.

i did forget to comment in your video link. i have seen that one. it is a great vid....very informative. but, i think i should wait until i get a microscope to attempt that maneuver.

Well, just to add to this, I am DONE for the next few days!  I give up, lol.  I thought I could bend that hairspring but nope, it kinked instead then got caught up and let's just say this is all that is left (picture minus movement)

Shame too because it was a Timex Salesman Sample

Thanks but I haven't seen another out there. This also seems to be  some sort of a Timex prototype movement as it looks different than the M22, which is their first mass produced movement. (It's similar but is marked 3 versus 22) Not good, also purchased three duds with rust everywhere:/ Yep, bad streak for me too.

Ah, the comfort of misery shared. I feel your pain, ramrod. I've been on quite a bad streak of late. The other night I had cleaned an entire movement, dried the parts and was ready to put them away. I started with the mainspring and somehow got it fouled in the hairspring. I had to laugh. My watch repair motto, which is applicable to many other things in life is, "Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn."
