How To Remove Day And Date Dials On An Oris

Recommended Posts

HI.

I'm currently struggling with a strip-down of an Oris, specifically with removing the day and date dials, as shown on the photos below. I cannot find any obvious way of releasing these so would appreciate greatly any advice you may have before I resort to  brute force. The movement is an ETE 2824 I believe.

Thanks in advance

Firstly what you have is a 2836-2.

I have just checked a 2836 and there is a "C" clip on the hour wheel pipe which, once removed, allows the day disc to be lifted off.

I can't tell from your pic if the 2836-2 is the same as the pic is too dark but checking other images on the net it does look to be.

Once you are in there you may find these links helpful.

Good luck, have fun.

First time i tried to remove those little circlip i pushed on it with one screwdriver in one end  and on the other i  hold it with a toothpick . It ended up with a long ugly scar all over the datering . Then i found out it's much easier to put a small screwdriver under the clip and just twist ever so little to remove it :) . Easy . Put it on again by lay it on top of the pivot end gently press it down with some tweezers or for safety use a toothpick or pegwood . Or the hands tool for pressing on hands ?
