If you are replacing it with a new one, get a nail or similar that is a good fit inside the tube to stop the tube collapsing, and then carefully pull it our with a pair of pliers. Alternatively, grip the tube complete with nail in a vice, and pull the case away with a slight twisting action. It's worked for me in the past.

Thanks Geo, funnily enough I've never replaced one before! Any idea what the ridges on the end are for, I'm thinking maybe for a tool you can use

Actually thinking about it . its probably just a cut away to match the ridge of the inside ridges of the case!

The cut out should point upwards . Otherwise you wont be able to screw the case back down. So would be good to have the case back on when you put the tube in? Use some strong loctite on the tube. And remove the case back so it doesn't  fasten also.

i've just checked several of my empty seiko cases and the cut out is pointing upward. perhaps it's different on an omega?
