Backwind Audemars Piguet

Just found this in a £10 junk box of bits off the bay!....70%of a backwind AP...it's only 20mm x5mm wide, must be the narrowest movement I've ever seen..Anyone with any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

That is pretty small...and it doesn't look too fixable considering the amount of rust! I believe if you are going to restore it, it will be quite a job. Keep us posted! Regretfully, other than the fact that it is supposed to be a good movement because of the brand (IMHO), I don't know much about those! But don't worry, some of the experts will be along any time.

Ohh! That rust!  The cog underneath it will surely disintegrate if you took the back plate off (assuming it would come off!).

Not sure I'm going to do anything with it, it looks like the barrel and mainspring are totally rusted, the dial and hands are in one piece, none of the markers missing etc. Was just a shock to find it amongst a box of what is basically junk. Some could say this is !!!

Love those boxes of junk! I get a good deal of pleasure of rummaging in cigar boxes and tobacco tins full of dismembered watches.
