Pocket Watch Identification

Recommended Posts

Hi, sorry being short and blunt on this but I would like if someone can give me info on these two movements.

1st is a pocket watch with the 2 wings comming from a wheel which is stamped on the back of the dial and RECO stamped on the movement (looking for a balance staff) movement numbed 4587823

the same on the movement of the watch on the 3 ratchet wheel (that ok just need a case for it)

Please can any body help on the makers?

Regards Dave

Nice challenge Dave

The pocket watch is by Phenix: http://www.cliniquehorlogere.ch/la-clinique-horlogere/manufacture-montre-phenix.html

It appears they used the Reco mark from 1906 to 1911 just to put novice watchmakers off the scent.

How did I find this? When John Senior's scans of the Bestfit catalogue http://www.obsoletewatchandclockparts.com/bestfitpages.htmlet us down we have to go to Mikrolisk: http://www.mikrolisk.de/show.php?site=280#sucheMarker. From there google is your friend.

Don't ask me for a specific calibre number though!

Hi Will, thanks but did Rotary make the pocket watch as well.

I have worked on a few Rotary watches & although they have the winged wheel engraved they were actually ETA  movements. Rotary do not make their own watch movements & I guess the same applied to their pocket watches.

As a side note for those who would like to know the value or identity of their watches I have found this book a really useful aid.
