Cannon pinion compression washer split.

Recommended Posts

I have posts on this clock here, and here, but this is a new unrelated issue, so starting a new post.

The cannon pinion is not working.  You can see that the brass piece is split.  I think this was an earlier repair done with a bushing insert.

I have no idea what was original.  Was it a steel piece, or a brass piece friction fit on to the arbor?  What you see here is a steel washer adjacent to the pinion, a brass lock washer, and then the brass bushing (split).

This clock is turning into a mess, but a learning opportunity, nonetheless.

I believe You are missing a spring that creates the friction force. I will make photo tomorow.

OK, found photo on internet... If the bush has split, then new one must be done
