looks like it has been opened and the gasket has been trapped between the case and caseback.

That's how it looks to me too, but still a nice looking watch, hopefully the gasket is a recent thing (maybe took the case back off for sale pictures??) and there is no rust.

The brush finish on the case looks fresh too, but the lines are still sharp, so whoever did it they did a good job, hopefully this bodes well for the condition of the inside if the watch too. Great find, more than a little jealous!

@Waggy You believe that is not the original brushing?

Was more if a question than a conclusion, its hard to tell from a picture, if its original then its in great shape, if not the person who did it did a good job 😀.

Ah it would be so nice if it came with the original bracelet… 🙂

Recently I have met an old gentlemen who was selling an old Heuer Orange Boy in a like new condition. What he was specifically proud of, was the the watch was never serviced. Meaning no one ever (except Heuer people) touched that watch internally. No I'm thinking, should I  touch mine, as its alo never been serviced? Does that add any value to the watch?

    • Amazing, thank you. They accept Paypal? Or only Mastercard or Visa? What's their shipping service? DHL? I don't trust my local post service. Things get "lost". I prefer courier to bring it to me.
    • Hi there.... sorry for tardy reply...I'm enjoying father's day! Good point about the bottom jewell. I did have a look and it appeared ok....but that's not to say it's been 'moved'....I'll try and do the measurement check over the next few days and see where that gets me. I did check the 588 I bought against it's spec and it checked out ok (obviously with a tolerance)......I bought it from a reputable parts dealer probably everyone on here has used... One thing that does confuse me is that the watch measured 18.5 lignes bang on....and the 588 Ronda is for a 19 lignes watch....hence my original question about the identity of the watch. Btw I bought the 588 as it was available and cheap and seemed to be used on quite a few calibres....so I thought I would give it a go as it had two chances pass/fail.....and it failed ☹️🤷🏻‍♂️
    • https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/en It's a proxy service. Japanese sellers send the items to the Fromjapan warehouse and they ship it to you. They store the items for some 40 days so you can buy many items and combine shipping.
    • Hi I'm working on this elgin 292watch a serviced it but a notice the pallet motion works for few minute then it completely come to a stop meaning it is not doing the lock or unlock what can be cause?
    • Yeah. I wish I can afford all of them. I am going to have to choose one. Seller says I can take my time to save up to purchase one before he puts them up online.    I saw the UK/EU/US prices are insane. A Robur press for $700. Albeit rare in South Africa. There was an auction in February this year for a Press and some other accessories for R3200 or $175. Min wage here is like R27,58 per hour or $1.5 per hour. Yeah, super cheap compared to other places. I actually debated trying the yahoo auctions to get one of those Seiko crystal openers but you need a Japanese residentual address? Unless I'm mistaken.  The February auction: https://www.auctionchamber.co.za/product/rare-large-collection-of-watchmaker-tools-components/
