Damaged(?) Elliott Platform Escapement

I've recently taken delivery of a Mappin & Webb mantle clock with an Elliott 8-day lever Westminster chime mechanism.

I've attempted to set the time, with the chime switched off as per the instructions, and I've ended up with the hands essentially stuck between 5:52 and 6:07. There's almost a blockage at either end of the 'wedge' beyond which the minute hand won't move. If the clock is allowed to run until 6:07, the mechanism simply peters out to a stop, and starts right back up again if the hand is moved back to an earlier position.

What's gone on here, and how easily can it be rectified? Will the clock damage itself further if left with the hands at 6:07?

Hi and welcome to the forum…..      I in its present state (cased up) you will not be able to see anything so do not go cranking the hands round as it will lead to breakages.  First remove the hands and then the movement and have a look at the complete thing. Check that nothing has dropped causing a jam.  A wheel / lever might be out of place by not being clipped or pinned properly..   also post pictures of the front/rear and from the sides they help a lot in diagnosis.

As watchweasol has said. Just remove the hands and take the movement out of its case. You will then be able to see if any thing has stuck. I wold make sure you have power on the chime and strike side and move the lever for chime and strike up and down a fey times, leave it on so it will chime and strike then see if you can move the hands but be very careful if they will not go forward take a few photos so we can have a look.
