Strange issue with watch dials moving counter clockwise when setting time

Recommended Posts

Hi I have a mechanical watch (FHF 175). I'm a novice so please forgive me if I'm not using the correct terms. The watch stem came loose. I popped it back in and tightened the screw in the screen shot 1. Now for some reason, when I try and set the dials to the correct time, the dials are moving counter clock wise instead of clockwise like it used to (Screenshot 2). Can someone help me understand what's going on. The dials move clock wise when running but its just when I pop out the crown and try and move the dials using the crown that the dials now move counter clock wise. Can someone please help me resolve this.

PS, my watch looses time over the course of several hours so I basically move the dials ahead a few minutes now and then during the day. With the dials now moving backwards this makes things tricky otherwise I could live with this.

Thanks.

Are you saying this happens regardless of which direction you turn the crown in time set position?

The hands can move backwards depending which way to turn the crown. Do they still move backwards when you turn the crown anti clockwise. Not all watch hands turn the same way at the crown .

Hi thanks for your help with this. It gave me a clue. It turns out the crown was loose from the stem. When I tightened it to the stem so it did not come loose moving the crown  I could move the dials clockwise when I turned the crown counter clockwise (which is probably what I was doing before the issue). This was a case of a little common sense so thanks.
