Crystal Woes

I have installed a new crystal gasket and have the factory crystal but it will not seat straight for love nor money. I have tried different dyes only to have the same result. The crystal is 2mm thick and one side has a slight bevel. My thinking is that the beveled side should go down. 

 

Any feed back would be appreciated as always.

The bevel is normally up, check the gasket as you may have damaged it & will require replacement.

Agreed - the bevel is usually up.

 

Are you pressing the glass and gasket together into the case? Or are you fitting the gasket first and then the glass?

 

The second method is usually the correct way. Also the gasket will have a flat edge on the bottom and a slight taper at the top to receive the glass - are you inserting it the correct way up?

 

Finally, the starting point: Once the gasket is in the case then the glass should rest on it 'flat' and when you press it down, try your hardest not to allow the glass to go in at an angle - in other words, keep it flat as you press.
