I won the bid on this Omega F300 Electronic Chronometer a couple of weeks ago. It was advertised as a parts only, untested and no returns. So I knew I was taking a bit of a gamble on it. But I had a working 9162 movement, so worse case scenario was I needed to salvage parts from it.

When it arrived, I was thrilled to find a very clean looking movement. But when I started taking the movement apart that night, it gradually turned to disappointment. This watch had been the victim of "organ harvesting".

There were parts that were bright and shiny, while others were dull and tarnished. The coil blocks and tuning fork were badly tarnished. The 3rd and 4th wheel were also tarnished.

The dial was supposed to be in good condition but when the hands were removed, there is a patch of corrosion just under where the hands were strategically placed.

And the caseback has to be the winner. Someone actually scratched the model number of the battery on it

So the findings so far; someone harvested the coil blocks, the tuning fork, the dial, the hands and the winding crown.

I don't know if I can restore this back to an acceptable condition but I'll definitely give it my best shot.
