Open Balance Wheel

Hello all,

A friend wants to sell me his unused NH39 movement. I understand it has an open balance wheel at 9:00. I’m not a fan of it and was wondering if I could just put a regular plain dial over it? Thanks!

If its just a matter of replacing the dial I dont see why not.

I forgot to mention the NH39 has a small 24 h dial at 10:00

You would have to remove the wheel and pivot for that, under the calendar plate. In fact, the "24 hrs indicator" is something that replace the regular calendar (day/date wheel) work on the other mov.ts of the family.

The most practical end economical way to make a time only Seiko-based watch is to use  a NH35 or NH36 mov.t.

Thank you. I think I’ll remove the wheel and pivot. Shouldn’t be too difficult especially since he’s selling it to me for 20＄.
