Most of my Saturday has been taken up with fitting a dc adapter through an old microscope (new to me!), the old tungsten bulbs are useless so I upgraded to a cree led so I can actually see what I'm doing. The old bulb used 6v ac which is no good for the led which has to have dc.

My query relates to the BHT Truepoise. I've got it set up ok after a thorough clean to all the working parts. Basically, I'm after hints and tips on how to actually get a balance wheel true if it's not.

I've got other poising tools but this one can clamp onto the balance wheel (2nd picture) which I assume makes the job of adjusting it 'flat' much easier. It didn't come with instructions so I'd rather get some advice before I try it without a scrap balance.

I found some instructions, courtesy of the NAWCC forum. The "poising pin" can be used to both find and correct the 'out of true' point on the balance wheel.

The benefit with Trupoise, is that you can correct the cast of the wheel, without the danger of braking the pivots.

I believe so, yes. The balance in the photo is from a pocket watch.
