Cuckoo clock cleaning suggestions

I posted about the music box here.  I have a plan for that.

I plan to clean this in my ultrasonic using naptha (coleman fuel).

Alternative would my L&R Ammonia-based fluid, but that is expensive.

Thoughts?

Hi Personally I would clean it by hand using the Naptha and pegging the holes when done. The plates in cuckoo clocks are fairly thin so need a bit of care.  Agood brushing should suffice.   I have two of these clocks and hand cleaned them and used windles oil (the best) .     whats the movement  looks like a regula  8 day

Petrol is good enough for the brass? parts of this sort of movement. As watchweasol has said use Windles oil.

So based on what I am hearing, I need to do a full disassemble.

I would do a full disassembly and clean peg out the holes etc just watch out for the cuckoo arm and lock otherwise its straight forward. Make sure to keep the bellows wires seperate they are different lengths.

Confirmed...it is a 1-day clock.  Running well.  Waiting for new hands to arrive.  Also waiting for a new governor.

You don't get many that are 8 day not these modern novelty types. The really old type that have fusse movements are 8 day.

The pair I have are  a regula 25 1 day and a regula  8day, the small one uses lighter weights and is a bout 2/3rds the size of the 8 day. Both standard cuckoo's with no complications ie carousel, musicbox.  Both run  very well.
