Hour wheel spring clip: what is it?

I’ve been working on an ETA 2671, and there’s a part I am not familiar with. It’s called the hour spring clip, and it appears to clip just above the hour wheel, on the driven pinion. Is this hour wheel spring clip only meant to be used in transportation of the movement, to keep the hour wheel from falling off?

Hi Seiko use somthing similar to hold the day wheel disc on     I have attached two documents apertaining to the 2671 for your interest.

I think that looks more like a retaining clip for transportation. The day wheel clip is usually smaller.

Looks like the older version of the technical guide doesn’t have the hour spring clip.
