Not familiar with that Micky, but whenever I see a display doing those tricks I suspect a defect or bad contact. I hope it is normal for solar watches...maybe we'll get others opinions!

My Seiko Solar and my Citizen eco-drive both have analogue, rather than a digital, displays, so it's not the same - but I would go for the bad contact option as well. Solar watches are constantly charging, and the charging process shouldn't affect the display.

The display looks completely normal in normal light, its just in direct sunlight, the watch is almost brand new, and is under warranty, but I think it best I try and find out from someone who has the same type of watch, and if theirs does the same too in sunlight.

Direct sunlight will always show up some rainbowing. Try an lcd calculator.

The redrawing of the numbers I think is being shown up via the camera just as LEDs are shown to flicker on and off (PWM). The human eye isnt as sensitive as video camera sensors.

Good idea that, will check with my calculator, I must mention, in case this is related, the display on this particular watch is a negative display.
