Clock wire

I have a clock that has mystery wires Could someone help. It's an old clock that takes the round 6" tall batteries. There are 2 clips on one side of the clock For one of the batteries on the other side there's a clip and a straight  Connection on the end of the wire. How does this work.

No pictures. Talking of 6 inches (15 cm !) batteries. No previous introduction as it's customary in our friendly forum. Sorry I can't help but I whish you can solve this deep mystery.

Hi Brenny, welcome to the forum. A brief introduction is customary so we know who you are. And then pictures are a must. Often, items can come in many guises so seeing it is a far better way to know what you're talking about........I assume 6inch is a typo otherwise the things running on a car battery!
