Accutron 4th wheel

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!  So I've picked up a Accutron 214 non runner and decided to have a go at servicing it to see if I can bring it back to life.  I own a few accutrons but have never gone this far into one before.  So after cleaning and inspection I have found the 4th wheel has some damage.  Doing a little research, it looks as though the 214 and 218 4th wheels have the same part number.  Before ordering one for a 218, I was just wondering if anyone can confirm that they are the same?

One of the things you have to be careful about is part numbers for watches. Up until the relative recent times the part numbers refer to a part? For instance I'm attaching a page out of the bestfit book notice they reference the Swiss part numbering system. So simplistically you have a name for a part or a number for that part. But like balance wheel doesn't tell you which watch it belongs to or fourth wheel doesn't tell you which watch of lungs to even though they both have the exact same part number which is basically the same as a part name. With much much newer watches they have unique numbers for every single part but previously it's a name or number referring to the part and you still need what it goes to otherwise it's not going to be right.

Then I have a link that lists the parts for the 214. If you click on the actual part ill give you the cross reference. Clicking on the fourth wheel we get the second link which shows that it only cross references to other 214's.
