Omega 1315 Quartz start up problem

Recommended Posts

Recently replaced a broken stem on an omega cal 1315 quartz. Could find a stem so ended up altering something I had to the same dimensions. no problem there. Battery in the watch was totally wrong size. Yes I know the original is a 354 renata 1.35v. Replaced battery with a Renata 390 I had in stock couldn't get a 386 that was suggested. Anyway fit seemed good so i wonder if the bridge bar was replaced  at some time. I had the movement running  on the work bench. Removed the battery as it was old stock the voltage seem low. After fitting the movement back in the case with the stem and a fitting new battery it wont 'start up. I was carefull not to short anything and the plastic film isolator is in place. Any ideas as I know some of the early quartz omegas have start proceedure after a battery change ?

The problem you have is the original battery is a Mercury battery which because if the toxins are no longer manufactured. The equivalents are either a silver oxide 344 or a Sr11365SW.

PS a very nice high end jewelled movement. See vid below
