Perfect timing(bad joke-I'll let myself out), and subject. Is this hairspring in need of a tweak?  Working on a Hampden 16S circa 1898 final assembly and I saw this. It's barely noticeable at a out the 10 o'clock, just after the regulator pins. Or is it the overspring?

Hi mike, Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Circles appear non-concenteric, might need more than a tweak since we don't see the portion hidden under the cock.

I routinely remove the balance complete, the two little screws and end stone to clean and check the condition of the jewels and lube. Soaking the cock in Coca-cola 24-48 hrs never faild to penetrate the thread of little screws which gurantees their safe removal with incrediable ease.

A close up of coil's top view be useful.

I agree with Joe. Personally I dont think the terminal curve looks bad relative to the outer coil, but the whole spring looks a bit out of poise.

Hi Joe

belated merry Christmas and new year to you also. is it just me or is anybody else not getting all their notices of replies sometimes??  I just got this.

I'll remove the hairspring and get better pics. My shop is in a messy transition to an actual workbench(I got an awesome deal on a vintage oak roll top desk!)so I'll update soon when I get back to it.

Probably a good idea to loosen up one screw and remove the stud from the balance cock. It would be easier and safer to clean the hole jewel and to remove the cap jewel holder. These things could be tricky to remove. Two photos of the balance, one from each side would be helpful. Good luck!
