Mantel Clock Air Spring

Dear Sir,not sure if some one can help,I have got a few mantel clocks,all worked fine but now started stopping,three of them with the air spring are now playing up,found that the air spring is running slow,I tried cleaning and oiling what did work for some time but now started again,can cold do some thing to the oil and can some oil be better to use on clock and better brands

OP might mean Hairspring?

Ah, silly me.

It's just that I serviced an Atmos last year and the movement is so delicate and is designed to run without oil and is powered by atmospheric pressure and temperature. The reason I had to service it was someone had oiled it and it stopped.

Hello if it is a hairspring you mean, then this should have no oil on it at all, only in the pivots and then only a tiny amount, if you take a photo of the offending piece this always helps to decipher whats going on.
