landeron 48/51 winding stem

Hi guys,

Just wondering has any one else had problems with the winding stems for the landeron 48. I presume it goes were the pic shows it.

But its fine until you come to pull the crown and stem to move hands and  its not long enough to stay inside the tube  at other end.

Or i thought maybe it the setting lever but i have tried 2 of them there identical.

So take a look at the pics please and tell me were its wrong. .Please

This is the second winder i have had and both are the same so i presume i am at error.

No it is a 401 it even looks like it and the 2 i have are identical?

Hi Gary    A bit weird, check you part numbers against the attached parts list, What you have got may be generic.

It is hard to get the wrong stem but just in case you want to compare yours to a correct one I post a picture of one.

The grove holding the setting lever pin has to be wide and deep enough.

Very often I found the front bushing damaged that accepts the pivot.
Either by mounting a wrong (too long) stem or deliberately damaged to accept such wrong stem.

Wht praezis says is a distinct possibility and needs checking out.  It will need the dial and hands off and any date/calendar work removing to be able to asses the problem.
