1960s Seiko ebauches

Hi all, lately I've been coming across a number of movements based on Seiko ebauches transplanted into 1960s Orient watches. One of these movements was a Belforte 12F 4B, based on the Seiko 7625 ebauche.

My most recent Orient has stumped me as the movement has an Orient rotor identifying it as a Cal. 1931 with 19J. It's unlikely to be a 1931 as it has a balance cock rather than a balance bridge, it doesn't have the combined barrel and train bridge plate that Orient uses, and I can count 23J rather than 19J!

It looks like another Seiko 7625 ebauche but with a quick-set date pusher, and also it's most notable feature, 4 jewels on the day wheel (which I suspect are mainly there to up the jewel count).

It could be a Belforte but I've not found any examples on google with 23J, although there was one with 25J that had a date pusher.

Has anyone come across one of these movements before? The reason for finding out is mostly academic - I'm just curious to know what this would have started life out as. It's being used as a practice piece to develop my servicing techniques, and eventually a proper Orient movement will be sourced for the watch it came out of.

Also I think I've got all my facts straight regarding my research into these movements but please correct me if I've got anything wrong

Have you trued asking on SCWF - thewatchsite.com? A true collector's website with a lot of Japanese vintage knowledge.

Hi and welcome to the forum.    I second jdm and check it out on the SCWF site. We dont know the history of the watch and it may well be A frankenwatch cobbled to gether in Mumbal only time and research will tell, .        maybe

Thanks for the replies, it's more than likely to be a frankenwatch as the dial printing gave a third opinion for a jewel-count (25J)... Still the base movement must have come out from something.

I'll get onto SCWF to see what the folks over there think. Cheers.
