I like that watch because it reminds me of the military watches, and due to its size, of the era when the small watches were the pinnacle of fashion ! (I prefer small watches than the enormous watches though)

Some History :

 

 

1882

Ariste Calame sets up workshop to produce specialized watches that became known as ZODIAC.

 

1908

Calame patents the name ZODIAC. Wristwatches started production .

 

1924

ZODIAC launches it's first extra flat pocket watch with ZODIAC caliber 1617 movement.

 

1937

ZODIAC creates a new innovation: a 10.5 Ligne, 8-Day wristwatch movement.

 

1949

ZODIAC launches the AUTOGRAPHIC: a self-winding watch with a power reserve gauge measuring hours of power. This was one of the only two watches at the time to have a power reserve collection.

 

1953

ZODIAC launches the SEA WOLF, one of the first commercial dive watches.

U.S. Navy SEALs adopted it, as Zodiac announced in magazine ads of the day.

 

1968

ZODIAC launches the first Swiss electronic watch, the DYNOTRON.

 

1969

ZODIAC took the world by storm with the introduction of its most celebrated design: the ASTROGRAPHIC. This unique model features mysterious floating minute and hour hands and a  small red moon that orbits the dial while counting the seconds.

 

1977

ZODIAC introduces the worlds first LCD watch to obtain an official chronometer certificate.

 

1990

Willy Gad Monnier, formerly of TAG Heuer purchased the Zodiac brand, but this company, Montres Zodiac SA, went bankrupt in November 1997.

 

1998

Genender International, Inc. purchased the Zodiac inventory including their trademarks and registrations and other assets.

 

2001

Fossil Inc. acquired the worldwide rights to the Zodiac brand name for approximately $4.7 million.

 

2002

The new Zodiac line was introduced at the BaselWorld watch show in Switzerland, with the notable absence of any Sea Wolf model for the first time in 50 years.

 

2012

The return of Sea Wolf.

Since the depth rating on the new version of the Sea Wolf is the same as the original (200 meters/660 feet), the technical advancements come primarily in the form of the watch's automatic movement, the Fossil Group manufactured[10] STP 1-11 (Swiss Technology Production 1-11); housing 26 jewels with 44-hour power reserve.

 

2014 - PRESENT

ZODIAC reimagines heritage styles with the relaunch of the Sea Dragon, Super Sea Wolf and Astrographic.

I'm sorry for the non cleanliness... I wait to know if someone knows more about this watch / this range of watch, before cleaning it etc ... It is always more exciting I think!

Thank you for sharing! Zodiac has a rich history and to think that at one time, the zodiac super seawolf was in competition with Rolex!
