Hi, I was given this watch recently, I really like the design and want to look after it, I dont know anything about it apart from its a Swiss Emperor Hi Beat and the watch pops out of the case, it seems to keep good time, Id like to get it fully serviced and restored to the best it can be, so  im asking if anyone knows much about this watch, if its worth restoring and perhaps point me in the direction who could do this.

Thanks for reading and happy christmas

No picture of the mov't? It's a front loader, there are many topics on the subject.

Just be aware that servicing done by a reputable repairer can easily exceed the value of the watch, although I recently found that the well know collector DR. Ranftt recommends someone with very reasonable prices.

I braved up and popped the back off the watch, I know nothing about this subject tho i do love engineering ..... any way i noticed someone had added some sort of spacers to the movement, the watch does keep good time so i presume the movement is good, im just wondering if this is worth any time and effort, i really love the style of it

"Good time" is a positive practical start but just an "owner statement" from a watchmaking point of view :), as there is much more to assess a watch is "healthy".

I think it's a pin lever? It has some quality i being 17 jewels with shock protection  the design is cool and wearable. Try some rally leather straps on it. Then if you join the main objective of this watch repair forum you can become able to service it yourself, a good way is by enrolling our Host's HD training: watchrepairlessons.com

And season greetings!

Hi  have a look at the movement and look for a calibre number and makers mark so as we can indentify the movement for you. It should have a symbol i.e  eta 2428 or somthing like which identifies the movement.  From first observations it looks like a 17 jewel lever movement and worth renovation. But as jdm says renovation can easily exceed the value of the watch.

Id like to see this watch serviced and now ive had the back off perhaps a better spacer put in, i shall phone a few local watch repairers, see how that goes, im not into watches or wearing them, the watch is from the 70s all original including strap, i just think ill give it chance before i throw it in one of my junk draws to slowly disintegrate ..... thanks and happy new year
