I have a nice little Bulova 6BA movement. It will run indefinitely face down but stops immediately when turned face up. It's freshly cleaned and oiled, the coils on the balance spring don't touch when running, and without the pallet in place, the slightest touch on the crown sends the train spinning. Any help to offer?

Thanks in advance,

This should definitely be in "watch repair" section :)

Many questions same as your over the time, so I suggest you use the search function, anyway the answers you'll get are: double check again stones and pivot especially the one supporting the troubled position, as well end-shake.

Check the sides of the stones if they are placed on wrong side... If you have tried to clean the pivot holes with a tough material, you maybe damaged them...  Again check the balance amplitude after resolving the problem...

Check the

1: Balance pivots are okay and not worn or to short. The later have seen lots of times. So measure the balance and  compare that with data .

2: Endstones are clean and have no damage.

3: Hairspring touching the balance bridge or balance wheel arms

4: Jewels are clean and not damaged.

Thanks Folks. I think I have the full battery of things to check now, so I will consider this topic closed.

Thanks again.
