I need to sharpen one of my screwdrivers for the first time.  I have a screwdriver sharpening guide on order but need to select a sharpening stone.  What do people use and recommend?  India or Arkansas stone?  Oil or water stone?  Fine, medium or co**BLEEP**?  Any guidance would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi Roger,

I normally use a diamond stone. I have both fine and co**BLEEP** so it depends, if it is not much I use the fine one. I found that DMT is very good and lasts a long time. Other brands are ok but some tend to loose their edge rather quickly. This solution could be more expensive but cheaper in the long run...and time saving.

Cheers,

I purchased this the other day just a thought? Does anyone else have any experience with these? I think they are 320 and 800 grit.

I use a softish Arkansas/Wichita. After sharpening screwdrivers, I use the fine side of one of those 3-way foam-backed nail buffs to take the crazy sharp edges off...don't know if it's right or wrong but they seem less likely to cause scratches
