Timex Time Machine Restore

It all started with an inquiry if I had a replacement dial for a watch that had suffered a leaked battery.  Knowing it would go far beyond just a new dial, I offered a trade for the remains of the watch.

Replaced dial, NOS movement, NOS circuit board,  detent spring, repainted dial ring and now I am only missing one of the original Time Machine series. (second from top)

Once again a really nice job !!! you're really good at what you do :Bravo:

About the one you miss (second from top) and looking as the close-up pics below, I'm 99% certain it's possible to build such a dial with clear decal on a white or off-white spray-painted dial plate.

These days I'm building an hommage dial based on a 980.016 quartz Heuer diver from the 80ies.

I take pics on every stage of the making so I'll post a tutorial explaining all the process, from the blank dial plate to the finished dial.

I'm confident the same method could be used to redo a Timex Time Machine dial (the only difficulty will be to put a flat decal on a domed dial plate ... but I know that is doable as I have already done that).

The dial is not the so much the issue, rather it is finding all the other parts.  Most difficult would be to find the circuit board.  I had one in stock and it came from a lot I bought 4 - 5 years ago.

I am curious about this decal method, how do you go about making one?

As I said in my last post, I'm building an orange diver Hommage dial those days, just for the purpose of shooting pics of every stage and writing a tutorial ... and for the fun of it.
I still need 3 days to finish the process (only 5mns a day but hours for drying) so I'll create a thread about that on Thursday ... Friday the later.

Here is a step-by-step "custom decal dial" tutorial
