Square crystals for old tank watches

Hi all,

 

Have laid my hands on a couple of old (30’s ?) tank style watches that should be possible to get running.

 

But they are missing crystals...

 

Cousins show a fair stock of square crystals and I hope to find something that works.

 

But there’s a comment about crystals being ”rough edge, oversized for file to fit”. Sounds good to me as it hopefully allows for tolerance when ordering the part.

 

But it would be good to have some feeling for how much oversize there is and what adapability I can count on?

 

Is it just a 10th of a mm or 1 mm ?

 

If there’s any experience out there, I appreciate some guidance.
