Hi everyone ! I recently acquired a vintage Seiko 5 7009-316A, which I’ve restored and serviced, including the restoration and repainting of the hands.This watch is quite unique in my opinion, as it features a bezel design painted directly onto the crystal. Unfortunately, during the restoration process, the beautiful cream-patinated crystal cracked because it was too old...It was a real challenge to source an original Seiko replacement crystal, but I finally managed to find one. However, I feel like the watch has lost some of its charm without that gorgeous aged patina on the painted design, and now it's just plain white.. To try to replicate the original look, I recreated the design exactly as it was (even replicating the original font by hand!) using Adobe Illustrator. I then turned the design into a sticker. One of the biggest challenges was that the sticker needed to adhere to the inside of the crystal, not the outside. This meant the adhesive side had to be on the colored surface. I created a mirrored transparent sticker, applied it to the underside of the crystal, and the result looked promising—at first. Sadly, after just a few days, the sticker started peeling off, and I realized this solution wasn’t viable long-term. I’m now at a loss for how to properly recreate the painted crystal. I’d love to know how original painted crystals like those on the Seiko 7009-316A are manufactured. For example, similar designs can be seen on the Omega Speedmaster Mark IV, which has a tachymeter painted on the crystal. If anyone has experience with this or knows of any professional methods to reproduce this type of crystal, I’d greatly appreciate your advice! Thanks in advance!

I want to try repainting the watch dial. But I have a few problems. In some watch dials, the substance is centered around the dial. How do you actually do that? Also is there lacquer available in transparent colors? Or is there a color die that can be mixed with normal clear lacquer? I can make numbers and other letters with waterslide decal. But I want to know how to make the background color. I like the watch dial below...

Hello! So I am kind of just getting into this hobby, and I found beautiful ~1912 gem from auction. It's Omega's pocketwatch, and from what I found on internet, I think it's 19 cal. movement. Did not really know how to tell because it has only serial number (4100990) and 4 digit number (0990) on the underside of the train of wheels bridge (third picture). Anyway, there are some small tweaks to fix, like the ratchet wheel has worn so much, that if has holes in it (first picture). Those spare parts are somewhat easy to get, BUT that dial has worn really not too beautifully, ink has started to spread, and it just wipes away with cottonstick. I have seen some kind of dials on eBay that might fit on this watch, but I am feeling that I want to keep this one, because it is so unique in color, and pattern in the middle. I was not able to find same dial anywhere and that is good and bad thing . Now getting to the main point. Any of you paint dials, or know someone who does? As I am just starting this hobby, so that means I am also kinda on budget, so I cannot lean on any one too professional

Hey guys, my name is Lorenz. I am an 18 year old electrical engineering student from Germany. I got this Breitling chronospace a56012.1 from my granddad and I want to repair it. Besides a slight clicking noise while turning the crown ( someone please let me know if this is normal ) it works just fine. My main problem is that the black color on the Bezel is worn out on some positions and I dont know where to find a paint that holds on the metal nor do I know how to paint it again. I have worked with watches already, I disassembled a mechanical movement cleaned and oiled it again so I feel pretty confident in doing this job. And I would also like to change out the crystal, does anyone know what size crystal I need for this watch? Thanks in regards for any advice.

Hi, just wondering if there is any special technique to repairing the paint on my watch bezel. If managed to catch it a few times and the silver beneath has started to show. Thanks in advance.
