  1. I just finished completely taking apart this nice little Rockford 16s P/W Mod.#2 made in 1903. Mostly it was very dirty & the mainspring was broken. (and no hands)It only has 11jewels , but I really like Rockfords. It is also a private label "Chronometer Nacional" Has anyone heard of that. It is a pendent set & wind model. The guy who sold it broke or lost the winding return spring. So he made one out of a paper clip. Well, you can imagine how well that worked. So I took one from an old movement and its up and running and pretty as a picture. In fact here are some pictures.

  2. Put all the wheels in the lathe to make sure they run true, check for bent pivots, modern clock pivots are mostly made of a soft metal and bend easy. The plates should be laid on something flat, a sheet of glass to check to see if the plates due to a fall are not bent. End shake needs to be checked. Put each set of wheels in, screw up the plates. If the wheels drop on their own from one side of the plate to the other that tells you they are free, if one doesn’t move you know which needs sorting out. Pivots in modern clocks should be burnished because they are soft and rough up easily. Make sure all the teeth are good and not bent. Have you re-bushed any holes? if so are they correct in depth. If you can sort all that and try it. If it still stops get back to me and I’ll have to put my thinking cap on.

  3. Just off the bench - 1963 Timex Electric - Needed some TLC. Missing battery insulator, crown screw washer, sticky set lever , scratched crystal. Serviced, lubed, buffed and added red nail polish to replaced the cracked and aged lume.

  4. Alright! Got it figured out! WatchMaker that photo was extremely helpful in finding my issue. Having never had one of these movements apart I installed the indicated piece incorrectly. I now find out it is the unlock yoke for the date wheel. I installed it as shown it the picture and away it went! Thanks everyone for all the help! This forum is a great place! Always learning everyday!
