  1. Thank you Geo, I've been working on this on and off since it requires lots of time and patience. On the other hand, I was looking at this bunch of movements (Seiko like, not Seiko) and they have a different shock protection system (as in the original picture in this thread). I don't know if I ever said that I lost the bottom part of a 7S26 diashock assembly, the one on the main plate. Maybe much later when I'm done with the "hairspring movement" I'll "transplant" one of these easy to work on shock systems to the 7S26 plate and see if it works...OK this is work in progress for now but I'll post the results in time. (This is hilarious, I was trying to edit and clicked in the "like it" button!! ooops!

  3. The manufacturer said they cannot fix it? That's outrageous! The bad news is that even if you have a watch glass manufacturer make you a new glass the watch would never be water resistant again as you will not get a good seal and the other issue is that the word "TomTom" and a black border looks to be printed on the underside of the glass. Have you contacted the TomTom manufacturer head office? Surely they must have a service department that handles this kind of thing - it's not cheap kit after all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. The Longines case arrived this morning - and it fits snugly round the movement. Hurray! So, the next steps are: (1) get the movement cleaned as it's a little sticky (2) get a crystal installed (3) fit a new strap - think I'll get stainless steel mesh for this one, just for a change... Geo - thanks again for the heads-up on the case!

  5. In that case I believe your problem is with the cannon wheel. This is likely worn. I would just replace this as it is cheap enough and quite available. Then a little lubrication and the problem should be fixed. You should always feel resistance when setting the hands. If there is no resistance then the cannon wheel (or cannon pinion on other watches) is too loose. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. I doubt I'd sell a lot either way, since one still has to build the preamp and microphone (the built in mics just aren't good enough for this sort of thing). I'm not sure how many people would be willing to do that, even though I think that anyone with the skills to need a timing machine would be able to put together a simple circuit.
