Vintage Elgin 874 - how to determine sub dial hand size

I picked up an Elgin 874 with missing sub dial seconds hand. I'd like to source a replacement hand but I'm not 100% sure how to ensure I get the right size. Am I going to have to strip it down and try to measure the sub dial pivot with calipers/micrometer?

You will need the size of the pivot. To get the length of hand measure from about the centre of the pivot out to the numbers on the dial. Its better to have length then be too short as you can nip the end off.

Your photo is broken if you can get a pic of the back of theovement I might be able to find the size in an old book I have.

Sub second hand pivot should be 0.22mm.

About the hand lenght just proceed as oldhippy said.
