Refinishing Zenith 220S/2531 Handd

Hey,

 

I have a Zenith 220S and the hands are in pretty poor shape, it seems like there is a lacquer of some sort on the hands which is flaking off. The lume is also chipping off. I'm wondering if it would be possible to dissolve the lacquer in Hexane/IPA or is this possibly oxidised/tarnished playing I'm looking at?

Try dipping in naphtha for a while, then place then on paper towel and rub them with a cotton swap. That usually does the trick.

I clean it on the rodico with a pencil eraser and slightly moistened with water beforehand.
