I have taken in this Waltham and is in need of a new stem. I have the bottom part of the old stem and it appears to be a tap 8 size. I am no sure what to tell my supplier I need.

 

Any advise?

I don't do so many American watches but from what I understand you will need to go by the movement size and the serial number.

 

The following book is the authority on waltham movement identification, unfortunately I do not have a copy but your supplier may have - if you give them the details they may be able to help you.

If the stems are no longer available over the shelf then one would have to be turned on a lathe.

So let me me make sure that I have this right........one of those "keys" will  be inserted into the sleeve from the top, I hold the square part of assembly that dangles around from bottom and it should unscrew?
