Replacement Stem For Waltham Pocket Watch

I have taken in this Waltham and is in need of a new stem. I have the bottom part of the old stem and it appears to be a tap 8 size. I am no sure what to tell my supplier I need.

 

Any advise?

I don't do so many American watches but from what I understand you will need to go by the movement size and the serial number.

 

The following book is the authority on waltham movement identification, unfortunately I do not have a copy but your supplier may have - if you give them the details they may be able to help you.

If the stems are no longer available over the shelf then one would have to be turned on a lathe.

I need to get the "key"  part of the stem out and am not sure how to release the spring on the case interior.

It should unscrew from the other side using a Sleeve Wrench.

So let me me make sure that I have this right........one of those "keys" will  be inserted into the sleeve from the top, I hold the square part of assembly that dangles around from bottom and it should unscrew?
