I am unable to identify this older Hamilton. Perhaps someone has come across this model before.

Anyway, it seems to be a two part stem and I have been able to separate the stem and crown from the housing. I had thought that in doing so the movement would just drop out, but no such luck. I have tried turning the stem slowly in the hope that this might align something in the works that would release the movement - but nope. I don't want to pry around the edge of the dial with a screwdriver or blade and the back looks inpenetrable - would appreciate some assistance from the more experienced.

Sorry for the lousy pictures but I hope they might assist.

As a background, I bought this cheap at the sunday market. It runs for a few minutes and then stops, so I thought it would be a good patient for some tinkering.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Does the case back come off from case?

If the case back can come off the case and the movement is too big to come out from the back, then the movement must come off from the front (dial side).

The movement might also be screwed down to the case, which you need to be losen first from the back.

A photo of the movement through the back of the case might help to identify this.

Liberated!!  Turned out that there was a very tight ring/band holding the movement down.  Once I cleared the dirt and could shift it then it just popped out to reveal a lovely Cal. 673.

I may be wrong but this looks like a Swiss, post-US production ETA/Hamilton movement from the 1960s. US Hamilton movements usually had "Hamilton" engraved on one of the bridges, together with a serial number. I can't read the writing on the movement so I might well be wrong, but it looks rather ETA-ish.

Hi, all. Yes it does say Hamilton on the middle bridge. I am afraid I couldn't get the phone camera any closer. Do you think you could have a go at dating it. I thought around 1968-73 but just a wild guess.
