Checking watch coil

hi everyone, can someone please tell me a simple way of checking whether a watch coil is working in situ. I'm aware that you can take the battery out and check the resistance, but can you check continuity for example with a multi meter? If so, how? Often you have to take the coil out to check it properly and I'm just looking for a simple way you can check immediately without too much fuss whether the coil is defective, rather than just checking its resistance. Is it possible?

You should always do  checks as indicated in the technical sheet. Also, ideally the tester should be low voltage, common ones may not measure accurately.

Thanks for the reply, but I was wondering what happens when there is no technical sheet. Can you check the coil in situ for continuity for example, perhaps by using a voltmeter or similar? In a nutshell - Is the only way of testing whether a coil is defective by testing its resistance or is there another way?

Yes the coil is measured with resistance. Normally there are testing pads for the purpose. If you have a mov.t for which you don't have a technical sheet post a picture here.
