I have a BTM lathe and it is meant to be a copy of the pre war Boley lathes.

I know the BTM has the same spindle bore of 8mm as the Boley lathe, but was wondering just how compatable the two lathes are.

Will Boley collets fit the BTM?

Also are the bed size the same, so if I find a Boley attachment for the bed that has the flat on the top, not the side will it fit the BTM?

Thanks

Tony

Thanks for that, that's really helpful, now I can safely look at items to buy.

Didn't want to spend a small fortune for an accessory and not have it fit my lathe.

I purchased a lot of my collets at watch fairs. Just take collet spindle ( sorry can not remember its correct name) to test if the collets fit

In Perth Western Australia we are not so lucky to have things as watch fairs, the closest we have are antique fairs, which you would have to be very lucky to find watch maker tools at, but the watch guild I am now a member of attends the biggest one in Perth, not really to sell anything, although they may have a couple of items for sale, more to let people know that qualified watch and clock repairers still do exist.

I have picked up a few items via the watch repair school I attend, but if I am not buying new most of my tools come from online auction websites so I don't get a chance  to see before I buy

OK by the way remembered the the name now it is the "draw bar".  By using the chart I attached to can still find them on the bay. I have purchased this way. One thing I have found you never have enough collets.
