M0.5-M0.6 thread taps and drills?

I got some small 13'" movements with extra tiny screws, some of them have bad head so i want make new ones to replace them.

On the other hand i want also make a swan neck regulator. For this i need a long regulator screw with M0.5 thread. 

To the point. Where to buy (for cheap fo course) thread taps/dies. Or how to make them?

You need to find model engineer clubs for this type of thing. To start with you will need a lathe and I should think it needs to be able to undertake screw cutting. Do you have any model engineering shops around you? You could search the internet, have you tried ebay for the parts.

You can buy 0.6mm taps and threading plates from ebay

If you want 0.5 or smaller then I've only ever seen really expensive sets. If you really want to go this small then buy some hairspring stud screws, choose one the right size, file flats on it and taper the end, then harden and hold in a pin vice to use as a tap...

Those sets are really expensive, i also found some.

I was also thinking on something You suggest. Using a hardened steel screw as a thread drill to make the thread in a softened plate and then harden it to get the tap. A "how to" would be nice for this. Those little screws i mentioned are so hard, they blunting my screwdriver without getting any scratches on the black polished head.

Ok. I made the first pair of tap and die. It is M0.9, important for winding stems

The other hole has the tip of the original M0.9 tap so first i made a new tap with the original die from the set. Then i made a new die with the new tap
