I have a Seiko SQ here that I've been asked to repair. The crown is missing and it just seems to me possibly it may be just as simple to replace the whole movement rather than just stem and crown. Regardless I would assume budget to be similar.

My question is in regards to the 5Y22-8A08 number. What exactly is this identifying? I've seen many 5Y22 but the other 4 id's are different. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

That being said, any 5Y22 will fit in any case. So as long as I find a 5Y22 the other four digits of the ID do not matter, correct?

You are correct, as CB said the movement is the first "characters" before the dash. I would suggest to measure the height of the original movement since some movements come with different total height. Other than that, any 5Y22 with the same height (in case they vary) should be good.
